Wendy Turner graduated from the London Hospital Medical College in 1992, and returned as a lecturer in Periodontology in 1996. Following an MRC Clinical Training Fellowship and a Clinical Academic training pathway in Restorative Dentistry she was appointed as Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry in 2006. Clinical expertise is in Periodontology, with a particular interest in the interface with Restorative Dentistry and Orthodontics.

Wendy has extensive experience in teaching both undergraduate and graduate dental students, is Head of Centre for Adult Oral Health (since 2007) and Clinical lead for Undergraduate Dental Students within the Clinical Academic Unit of Barts and The London NHS Trust.
At Barts and The London Dental School, Adult Oral Health includes the restorative dentistry disciplines of periodontology, prosthodontics, endodontics and conservative dentistry and provides teaching for all the above specialties in the undergraduate Dental curriculum along with Masters level programmes in Prosthodontics, Periodontology, Dental Technology and a Diploma in Endodontic practice.

Other roles include acting as co-Module Convener for Plaque Related Diseases and responsibility for the Periodontology teaching and Introduction to Clinical practice thread for the Undergraduate Dental Course. Her other contribution to the Institutes teaching programme includes participating in the Masters of Clinical Dentistry programme (Periodontology), the Diploma in Dental Clinical Sciences and training of Hygiene and Therapy students.
In 2008-9 she was President of the London Hospital Dental Club and hosted the Annual Clinical Meeting in 2009.

Outside of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, Wendy has been on the British Society of Periodontology Council since 2004 chairing the Teachers Section of this society, and is currently Assistant Honorary secretary to the BSP president 2009-10. She was part of the local organising committee for the very successful PER IADR conference in London 2008.
