I have worked in tobacco cessation for 12 years providing advice and support to women from the Bangladeshi community who want to give up tobacco in paan. This work has contributed to recognition of smokeless tobacco as a cause for concern nationally. Pinnacle of my work being the publication of the NICE guidelines ' Tobacco: helping people of South Asian origin to stop using smokeless toabcco'. Date of release September 2012.
Providing help and support to members of the Bangaldeshi community to give up tobacco in paan in a culturally sensitive way. Research interests are tobacco and smoking cessation and its wider policy implications.
