Profile

Vanessa Muirhead is a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health. She is a former NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer/ Specialty Registrar in Dental Public Health. She gained a first class BSc honours degree in Experimental Pathology and a Bachelor degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. After working as a community dentist for Portsmouth and Wandsworth Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), she returned to QMUL to complete a Master's degree with Distinction in Dental Public Health in 2002. Vanessa then moved to Canada in 2003 to pursue a doctorate at the University of Toronto, Canada and fellowship-supported postdoctoral research at McGill University in Montreal. She returned to QMUL to complete specialty training in Dental Public Health, where she successfully completed the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination (ISFE) in Dental Public Health in April 2016. Vanessa gained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and became a GDC-recognised specialist in Dental Public Health in August 2016.

Developing and evaluating oral health interventions in: (i) in primary care (i.e., GDPs and community pharmacies) and (ii) for vulnerable populations (i.e., looked after children)
