Dr Elena Calciolari is a Clinical Research Fellow at the Centre for Oral Clinical Research, Institute of Dentistry, Barts & The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). Until recently, Dr Calciolari was doing her PhD on osteoporosis and bone regeneration at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, London.
Her areas of research are mainly related to bone regeneration and the impact of systemic diseases on bone metabolism.
Dr Calciolari completed a 2-years Master in Periodontology at the University of Siena, Italy in 2012 and then she won a prestigious scholarship from the Italian Society of Periodontology that sponsored her PhD. In 2014 she received the Goldman award for clinical research by the Italian Society of Periodontology and the John Zamet prize by the Alpha Omega London Chapter and Charitable Trust.
At the Centre for Oral Clinical Research, Dr Calciolari works as part of a multidisciplinary team and assists with the clinical management and treatment of patients, especially in the fields of Periodontology, Tissue Regeneration and Implant Dentistry. Furthermore, she participates in the Centre’s academic activities and makes research initiatives and original contributions to the research programme.
