Teaching

Dr Swati Nehete qualified from Government Dental College and Hospital Mumbai in 1996 with BDS.  She completed an MSc in Prosthetics in 2001 at the Eastman Dental Institute with an in vitro research project studying the effect of physiological dental movements on screws within implant prostheses.

She was appointed in 2004 and is currently a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the Institute of Dentistry. Her interests relate to education and assessment and has various roles in this arena.   She is the Academic Lead for Year 4 Assessment in addition to being Lead for Case presentations in Years 3, 4 and 5 BDS components.  She is the Lead for Treatment Planning Theme for Years 3, 4, 5 BDS, and Lead for Lifelong Learning for Years 1 – 5 BDS.

She is the QMUL BDA Health and Safety Representative and represents the BDA at the QMUL Health and Safety Advisory Group since 2010. She is a trained Mental Health First Aider, Dignity Disclosure Officer and a member of the Staff Wellbeing and Support Group.

She has participated in IQE, ORE and LDS registration examinations. She is currently the lead for Dental Manikin component of the LDS examination.  She is an elected member of council for the BSSPD.

She has an active interest in research relating to bioactive glasses and is a Clinical Advisor to BioMin Technologies.

Research

Research Interests:

My current main research interests are in Temporomandibular Joint research and BioMin Bioactive glasses.  I am a Clinical Advisor to BioMin Technologies.

I have previous research experience in physiological masticatory forces and their influence on implant screw loosening.
