Profile
Dr Nibali is a Clinical Reader at the COCR (Centre for Oral Clinical Research) at the Institute of Dentistry, QMUL and an honorary associate professor at the University of Hong Kong. He qualified in Dentistry from the University of Catania in Italy.
Dr Nibali was awarded a research fellowship from the SIdP and subsequently completed an MSc in Periodontology and a PhD on ‘Genetics of Aggressive Periodontitis’ at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, London. His main research interests are genetic predisposing factors to periodontal diseases, periodontal medicine, aggressive periodontitis and non-surgical therapy.
Dr Nibali has published widely in International dental and medical journals and has won several International research prizes, including the Fish prize from the British Society of Periodontology in 2005 and the Socransky young investigator award from the IADR (International Association for Dental Research) in 2015.
Currently Dr Nibali lectures Internationally and works at the Institute of Dentistry, as well as in private practice limited to Periodontology and Implant Dentistry.
