What motivates you about working in the Dental Institute?
Following the progress of both undergraduates and postgraduates through their courses and being able to contribute to this progression is my main motivation. Witnessing their ultimate success and knowing that I had a part (albeit small) in this is very satisfying.
How have you progressed since you started?
I started as a Research Assistant in November 1977 on external funding and became a member of the academic staff as a lecturer in October 1983 and became a Senior Lecturer in 2012. I did not achieve promotion earlier in my career mainly due to the systems then in place, whereas current systems have enabled this.
What are your goals for your future?
I have been involved with the development of dental materials science teaching in the new 2012 undergraduate curriculum. My main goal is to continue with this development see it through to a successful conclusion.
